There are three main sizes: 20ft, 40ft and High Cube. The right one depends on weight as much as volume. Work out the volume first, and the freight cost follows.

Dry Containers
20ft, 40ft and the High Cube
Dry farm goods from India travel as dry cargo. A standard 20ft container holds about 28 CBM and usually takes 24 to 26 MT of basmati.
A 40ft container offers about 57 CBM, nearly twice the space, and costs less in freight per tonne. The High Cube is 30cm taller, with about 64 CBM, which makes it the best choice for cargo that is light but bulky.
Antaara’s Position
Antaara ships in standard 20ft and 40ft dry containers, and the High Cube is available on request. When your cargo needs a special loading plan, we will gladly prepare one for you, with the cost quoted in advance.

Reefer & Special Types
Cold Cargo, Only on Request.
A reefer is a refrigerated container that holds your cargo at a set temperature, from −30°C to +30°C, for the whole voyage. It costs far more than a dry one, so use it only when your goods need it.
Rice, whole spices and pulses do not need one. A reefer can help dried goods that absorb moisture, or cargo going to hot, humid ports.
Antaara’s Position
Most farm cargo needs no cooling, so Antaara ships dried goods and oil seeds in standard dry containers. We book a reefer only on request, when your goods need a steady temperature for the whole voyage, at your cost.

LCL vs FCL
Shared or Full Container?
LCL means less than container load. Your cargo is loaded together with goods from other shippers, and you pay only for the space you use. Buyers choose it when an order is too small to fill a container.
Once your cargo passes about 14 to 15 CBM, a full container is almost always cheaper per bag, and customs clearance is simpler too.
Antaara’s Position
Antaara ships only full containers, but you can fill one with several of our products together. Some countries restrict certain foods, so please check your import rules with your customs agent before you place an order.
